Message from the Chairperson

“It is not always the same thing to be a good man and a good citizen.”

These words by Greek philosopher Aristotle poignantly push us to think about patriotism. Our students learn about it in the Indian history, they sense it in the bravery and sacrifices of our freedom fighters and soldiers. However, what is patriotism in the current context? What makes a patriot today?

Patriotism cannot be taught, but it can be identified, perceived, and pondered upon. With classrooms as conversation starters, seemingly difficult concepts can be humanized, discussed, and applied by our young students.

Showing interest in our country’s people and caring for their well-being is patriotism. Speaking the language of respect, peace and justice is patriotism. Embracing inclusiveness is patriotism and so is celebrating diversity. These values will be strengthened by our educators during this academic year, making way for rational and tolerant future citizens.
